Greetings!

 top

Of course, I was in Florida when Hurricane Isaac blew through.  My suggestion is to avoid taking vacations anywhere near Florida the same time I do because I seem to attract hurricanes!

My youngest, Christian, is getting really big (and extremely cute)!  He enjoyed our trip to Dinoland, in Orlando.

Check this out - It's Great!

My cousin, Matt Glickstein, who lives in Lana'i, Hawaii, is a songwriter and a teacher.  He's been working with the children of Lana'i on songs to help change the world.

Dream What Could Be Done (feat. Lana'i Class of 2020)
Dream What Could Be Done (feat. Lana'i Class of 2020)

They were recently featured in the Huffington Post and now are finalists in the  John Lennon Songwriting Contest for 2012.  The kids are lovely and talented and Matt's songs are great.  If you'd like a smile and some inspiration, check out his website:  Matt Glickstein.

Songs are available iTunes (search mattglickstein) and Amazon. One hundred percent of the profits will benefit the Lana'i Class of 2020's graduation fund and Lanai High and Elementary School.

Winterize Sprinklers - Be sure to turn the water off first!

Time to start thinking about winterizing your sprinklers.  We will be sending out reminder cards shortly, but if you are ready to be put on the list, just turn your water off and email us!

Ticks

They are predicting that there will be a big problem with ticks this fall due to a decrease in the population of their favorite host - the white footed mouse.  This means ticks will have to find another source for a fall blood meal - you, your kids, and your pets!  We have a spray that works really well.  Just let us know and we can give you a price.

Fall Pruning

Still pruning!  Overgrown shrubs require more water and are more susceptible to disease and breakage.  Contact us for a pruning estimate - and check out the great coupon below -  and your shrubs will thank you!  Pruning

Snow Removal

Our snow removal contracts will be going out in November.  If you are an existing snow customer, you will receive your contract automatically.  If you are new, and would like an estimate, please email Gene.

Contact us today to find out more about any of the services mentioned above!  Or whatever else you might need!

Thank You!

Steve

Spider Mites
Current Conditions
We are still seeing many insect infestations on shrubs and ornamental trees.

Mites have been particularly problematic; if you notice a shrub that was healthy looking a month or so ago, and now has lost all its leaves, it may have mites.  Mites are tiny members of arachnid family, and particularly enjoy sucking the sap of burning bushes.  A miticide is required to treat infested plants.

Please call if you notice yellowing leaves on your burning bushes, azaleas or other shrubs - it might be mites!

Rutgers reports that dollar spot, gray leaf spot and crown rust fungus are all active at this time in New Jersey lawns.  Our technician is out checking all our lawns and will certainly let you know if yours is affected!

Please let us know if you have any questions!

Steve's Fitness Training

My oldest son, Steven, is a Certified Personal Trainer, so if you'd like to get fit for fall, contact him for a special price only available to Steve's Landscaping customers.

Steve's Fitness Tip - when your child is paying fall sports, like soccer or football, walk a couple of laps around the field.  You can still see the game and support your child, but you will burn a few calories and help your heart at the same time!
