Greetings!
If you follow us on Facebook, you may have noticed that it was my birthday this week. Some years, we are still plowing snow on my birthday. Usually, we are prepping our trucks to begin the regular season work. Of course, this year is not like any other year! We've already begun cutting lawns, installing mulch and constructing landscaping projects. We're ready to get started at your house, too - just let us know what you have in mind! Spring Shape-Up
Time to spiff-up your property! We'll clean up any remaining debris and leaves from the winter, edge the beds, install good-quality mulch, trim damaged shrubs, and blow off all paved surfaces and decks. We don't normally prune flowering plants until later in the season, but we can remove broken branches and trim non-flowering shrubs and/or trees.

Sprinklers & Ponds
You should have received your sprinkler service contract by now. We are scheduling based on location for the people who have returned the contract or who have called our hotline, 973-627-2797 x5.
If you have a pond, we will clean it and get it running for you. This is a good time to replace overgrown plants, install new lights and add fish. The soothing sound of a trickling waterfall is wonderfully relaxing after a hot summer day commuting home from work. We will build you one - free estimate! sprinklers@steveslandscaping.net
Lighting Service
Even without snow, outdoor lighting fixtures take a beating over the winter. Our service call includes straightening fixtures, replacing bulbs, re-setting the control box and wiring diagnostics - for $65.00. Parts and bulbs are not included.
Fertilizer
Your lawn should be green and free of dandelions. If it's not, let us know. We offer four fertilization programs and can customize them further to suit every need and budget. We use only the highest quality products, both regular and organic based, and our technician is trained and certified. He is also able to diagnose problems and recommend solutions. Horticultural News
Mites & Zombies
The agricultural reports indicate that a number of varieties of evergreens, including boxwoods and hollies, have been observed to have mites - spruce spider mites and southern red mites. Keep a look out in case your plants are affected. Contact us right away to set up a diagnostic visit.
Also, while it's been dry so far this season, remember that last year was one of the wettest on record. The root systems of many shrubs may have been drowned by the overwhelming amount of rain and will only start showing the effects later this season. Some may already be dead - to quote the Rutgers report, "Remember, where the floodwaters were last summer, there are zombie plants out there!" (4/5/12)
