Sprinkler Winterization
If you don't need your sprinklers anymore this season, you may want to get on our list for Sprinkler Winterization.
If you signed up for an Irrigation Service Plan, your winterization service is already paid for. If not, no worries! We will winterize your sprinkler system and send you a bill.
Here's how it works:
Step 1 - Turn off the water to your sprinkler system.
Generally, all you have to do is find the wall in your basement or garage that is adjacent to the sprinkler backflow device on the outside of your house - it may look some thing like this (although, hopefully, not so lopsided):
Then, follow the pipe to the inside of the house. The valve will be on that pipe. The valve will look like a lever: see photo below. When the lever is parallel to the pipe, the ball valve is open and the water is on! In order for us to winterize your system, you have to turn the water off. Inside this pipe there is a marble-like ball valve. It has a hole drilled through the middle that allows water to flow through it when it is open. In the photo below, the valve is open and the water is flowing through it.
Rotate the lever to the perpendicular position, as in the picture below: This valve is closed.
Picture the little marble with a hole drilled through the middle. When you turn the lever, the hole rotates to the side, shutting off the flow of water to the sprinkler system. Step 2 - Call our hotline, 973-627-2797 x5 and leave your name and address on the message machine. (Or email sprinklers@steveslandscaping.net) We will get your message and add you to our schedule for winterization. Please remember to tell us that your WATER IS OFF! Step 3 - We will winterize your sprinklers and leave a note that it is done. If you are a plan customer, you are done!
If you are not a plan customer, you will receive an invoice shortly. We would appreciate prompt payment of this invoice, so that we don't have to incur collection expenses - this helps us keep our prices down over all. Please note: Some sprinkler systems have the blow out valves located inside the house. If this applies to you, you will need an appointment. We have a record of who needs appointments and usually, you do too! Just leave an appropriate message and we will call you. For everyone else, you do not need to worry about an appointment, so once you've turned your water off and let us know, you're all set! Email: sprinklers@steveslandscaping.net Call: 973-627-2797 x5 Important: Please don't contact us until AFTER you've turned your water off! (I can't tell you how many people each year call and say they are turning their water off "tonight" and then forget. We end up going to the house for nothing and we have to charge a service call.) |
