National Night Out is Tuesday, August 3
On Tuesday, August 3, the City of Tega Cay will once again be participating in National Night Out. This year, the event will come to the neighborhoods and those that are wishing to keep them safe. The neighborhoods that are interested are asked to have neighbors get together to celebrate safety and crime prevention.
National Night Out is a true police-community partnership and a wonderful way to show criminals that we are committed to keeping our city safe and crime free. The Tega Cay Police Department will be on hand to assist as well as other agencies throughout the city. Many neighborhoods have already registered to serve as a host location. To find out if your neighborhood is hosting, or if you would like to serve as a host neighborhood, please contact Lt. Buddy Spence or call the Police Department at 548-0340 or visit the department website. |

Wickets Anyone?
Join the Tega Cay Croquet Club on Saturday, September 11, at 11 a.m. for the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony of the newly constructed, professional croquet court located at the Tega Cay Golf Club.
Tom Anderson, President of the Tega Cay Croquet Club, will welcome everyone to the festivities before turning things over to several National USCA Champions who will be on hand to provide demonstrations. "This has been several years in the making", remarked Anderson. "I first brought the idea of croquet to the Parks and Recreation committee a little over two years ago. In that time, we have grown from just a few of us showing others the sport, to a 100 member club", he added. "This entire group has done a wonderful job", said Charlie Funderburk, Operations Director for the City of Tega Cay. "They have been enjoying limited time on one of our soccer fields for the better part of two years, so it's nice to see they have finally been able to get a permanent home, in a much more suitable location".
While many may view croquet as a sport for the older generations, they couldn't be more wrong. "It is definitely not the game you played growing up in your front yard", remarked Funderburk. "It is a game of skill and strategy, and the club has done a wonderful job introducing the sport to many different generations". "It's a sport that parent and child can compete in together", added Anderson. A buffet lunch will be available at the Pavilion, during the Grand Opening, at a cost of $10.00 per person with several door prizes awarded. A cash bar will also be open. Tickets for the lunch may be purchased at the club house Pro Shop or from Al Huddy (547-2459) or any member of the Club Board. The court will be open until 5:00PM on the 11th. The event is free to watch the demonstrations, or to try your hand at hitting the wickets at this first class facility.
