Fourth of July Celebrations:
Tega Cay Traditions Continue
Land Parade: July 3 at 9 a.m.
Photo By Donna K. Britsch | This year, we're going to celebrate Independence Day all weekend long. On Saturday, July 3 rd, at 9 a.m., we'll kick things off with our Annual 4 th of July Parade down Tega Cay and Windward Dr. Many of your favorites are back again this year with lots of new additions. Parents, get your kids to Turner Field before the parade starts and bring their bicycles. Make sure they and their bicycles are decorated patriotically as they will join in the parade as it passes by.
Have you always wanted to walk in the parade with the four legged member of your family? Grab Fido and come on out to Turner. You'll be able to join in for the shorter part of the parade with the kids and their bikes.
Photo by Donna K. Britsch | Our Parade is typically one of the longest in the south, but the kids and the pet parade will end at the Club House instead of continuing all the way down Windward Dr. Don't just be a bystander. Grab your neighbors and get involved. It's not too late to enter a float either. CLICK HERE to register online!
Meet the VIPs: July 3 from 11 a.m. - Noon
As always, there will be many VIPS riding in the Parade wishing everyone a safe and happy Independence Day. Once the Parade ends, join us at the Glennon Center to have a chance to get to know them. Many of your elected officials will be joining us, so come to the Glennon Center from 11 a.m.-Noon and meet them face to face!
Carnival of Fun: July 3 & 4
New to our list of events this year is the Carnival of Fun. The Carnival of Fun will run from Noon- 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 3rd, and from 1 p.m.- 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 4 at the Glennon Community Center. There will be inflatables for the kids to bounce around in and games for the parents too.
Water Fun at Windjammer:
July 4 from Noon - 3 p.m.
One of the most popular events during our annual Celebration are the events at Windjammer Park. There will be vendors on hand and lots of fun in the sun. Watch from the point as the festively decorated boats parade by for a second parade of the weekend. Want to get involved in the action? Sign up and compete in the annual Canoe Joust. Don't have a partner? Don't worry, we get someone to steer the canoe for you as your battle your way to becoming this year's Champion! Once you nice and tired from all the water fun, sit on the bank and watch as the nationally acclaimed Carolina Show Ski Team, based right here in Tega Cay, entertain us with their Super Hero themed ski show! The performance starts at 2 p.m. Remember, there is NO PARKING AT WINDJAMMER PARK for this event. Park at Turner Field, Runde Park or the Clubhouse and ride the shuttle to Windjammer!
Red, White & Blue Golf Tournament:
July 4 from Noon - 5 p.m.
This annual Golf Tournament will begin with a shotgun start at Noon. Enjoy playing on our Championship Pines and Grandview courses. For more information on how to register for the tournament, please contact the Pro Shop at 548-3500.
Lions Club Fish Fry, Dance, Fireworks & More:
July 4 from 4:30 p.m. - Midnight!
The Tega Cay Lions Club Fish Fry is as much a part of our 4th of July tradition here in Tega Cay as fireworks. Purchase your tickets ahead of time from your local Lion and join us in the upper level of the Glennon Center from 4:30 p.m.- 7:30 p.m. You can eat at the Glennon Center or take your meals with you. If you chose not to stay and eat, don't forget to return to the Glennon Center at 7:30 p.m. for our 28th Birthday Celebration.
At 9 p.m., venture back outside the clubhouse and stretch out on your picnic blanket to enjoy our annual Fireworks Extravaganza! People travel from all around York County to enjoy the rockets' red glare as they light up the night sky over the peninsula.
Wait, the party doesn't end when the fireworks are finished. Venture back inside the Glennon Center and join our DJ as we dance the night away to some of your favorite hits through the ages! The dance will end at midnight.
This wonderful weekend long celebration would not be possible without all the hard work put in by the Community Relations Committee. For more information on any of the 4th of July Events, please VISIT US on the web. |
