Piedmont Pedometer Challenge Begins January 4
Time to register for the Piedmont Pedometer Challenge is coming to an end. Registration will take place Saturday, January 2 at the Tega Cay Beach & Swim Club from 9 a.m. - noon. Registration will continue through January 4 online and during select times and locations as listed below.
At registation, participants will fill out a form and pick up their packets which will contain a pedometer. Pedometers are being provided by Piedmont Medical.
During this eight week fitness event, you wear a pedometer (a device that counts the number of steps you take) and log the number of steps you take; thereby, striving to meet "daily step goals" that are proven to reduce health risks and improve overall fitness.
SET A GOAL: The average person takes only 3,000 steps a day. Walking an additional 7,000 steps a day offers significant health benefits, cutting the risk of many diseases such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes and osteoporosis. With this in mind, we have established the following goal levels . . .
Gold Level Participants who achieve 400,000 steps during the eight (8) Week Challenge (Average of 10,000 Steps/5 Days Per Week)
Silver Level Participants who achieve 320,000 steps during the eight (8) Week Challenge (Average of 8,000 Steps/5 Days Per Week)
Bronze Level
Participants who achieve 240,000 steps during the eight (8) Week Challenge (Average of 6,000 Steps/5 Days Per Week)
REGISTER: Participants can register online from until January 4 by clicking here or by visiting www.tegacayrec.com. Participants who register online will still need to pick up their pedometers and registration packets at one of the three locations listed below. In-person registration & pedometer pick-up is available at three sites during select day/times.
