In the Spotlight - Flor
He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. Psalm 40:2 After a life spent in the mud and mire, Flor joined our GCH family three years ago. She will be 14 years old this month. In July Flor graduated from the 6th grade. She recently received a scholarship from a generous donor and began Jr. High at the private school last week. God has gifted Flor with leadership and nurturing skills. With these gifts she is a huge help around the girls home. She cares for the younger girls, loves to work with the cooks in the kitchen and is always looking for ways to be helpful. She is responsible and trustworthy. Flor is active in the youth group and looks forward to any opportunity to go to church and learn more about Jesus. Psalm 40 is an accurate description of this young lady's life. God has truly lifted her out of the pit and set her feet on a rock. |
Back To School
Last Monday the kids went back to school. Even our youngest, Cesiah, started preschool. Both homes were buzzing with excitement as the kids prepared to start a new school year. Among those most excited were five kids who were starting in the private school for the first time. Praise the Lord; we now have 18 kids attending private schools! Considering the state of our economy, this is nothing short of a miracle. These donors have made huge sacrifices in order to provide this educational opportunity to our kids. It is our prayer that God blesses them a hundredfold for the gifts they've given. | |

New Faces
We have had some recent turnover in staff, which has brought new faces to GCH.
Martina is the boys' house mom (front center). She has been an active
part of GCH since its inception. She has two teen-age children.
Recently widowed, Martina is now following God's call to be involved
fulltime at GCH. Graciela and Marco are support staff to the
house moms (far left and far right). They have been married for 15
years, have 3 children, and have been actively serving in their church
for 8 years. Graciela and Marco have been praying about serving God in
fulltime ministry. God brought them to GCH. Ana and Ana Rosa
(not pictured) are cousins. They serve part-time in the homes as support staff. Though
Ana Rosa has a physical disability, she does not allow it to keep her
from serving the Lord. Jodi and Angela (top row), two new
interns from Canada, came at the beginning of August. They are both fun
loving, enthusiastic and hard working. God brought them and their skill
sets to GCH for such a time as this.

Dental Room
We are thrilled at the possibility of using our dental room in the Ed. Center very soon. The convenience of having both preventative care and treatment for our kids right in our own backyard is very exciting. We know that God will use this blessing as a tool for reaching our community as well. It has been humbling to watch God pull the whole idea together. Equipment has arrived, designs drawn, plumbing and tile laid, and machines installed, all by generous donors of their gifts and talents.

Summer Fun!
This summer we were excited to host several North American teams in our new dormitory. While these groups tackled many projects around the property (repairing septic tanks, installing sinks and toilets, sanding, texturing, painting, auto maintenance, cleaning, organizing, etc.), they were also the catalyst for most of our summer fun. Many teams hosted awesome VBS for our kids. We played in the waves and built sandcastles at the beach at least once a week. We built bonfires and watched as the teams put on exciting firework shows. In addition to fun with the teams, our kids were also invited to participate in a week long camp in Ensenada with Genesis Expeditions. The camp's purpose is to partner North American teams with Mexican orphanages to spend the entire week at camp with the kids. Our kids came back filthy dirty and smiling from ear to ear. We also attended a week long VBS at Capilla Calvario Rosarito. The theme verse was Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." It was wonderful to watch God plant this promise in the hearts of our kids.

Help Fill Our Bodega
Our bodega is a large storage room where we store dried food goods, cleaning products, paper products, and personal hygiene products. Right now our Bodega is looking pretty sparse. We rely heavily on the donations of our visitors to keep this building stocked. If you would like to donate $20 to help replenish our shelves click here. |

"The earnest prayer of a righteous
person has great power and produces wonderful results." James 5:16
The greatest contributions you can make to Grace Children's Home are
your prayers. Please remember to make
GCH a priority in your daily prayers.
Here are some ways you can be praying for us:
· Pray for protection both
spiritually and physically for our children and staff.
· Pray for God to provide tuition
scholarships for the 9 remaining children who are in the public schools.
· Pray for our children to thrive in their new learning
environments.
· Pray for unity and like-mindedness among our staff as we train all our "new faces" reinforcing our common vision and
goals.
