Herb of the Week

Frankincense - Boswellia thuriferaB
Greetings!

Frankincense is a resin tapped from a tree in East Africa and Arabia. It is used for pain as Boswellia, usually in powdered form placed into capsules and taken orally. The essential oil of Frankincense is used in Aromatherapy to support courage in people and animals.

The essential oil is a profound healer of skin and mouth infections - even having been used to treat Leprosy. It is antiseptic and a stimulant, applied full strength externally to old sores and dry infections; used in a carrier oil (grapeseed or olive) mixed half and half for new sores or irritations. Weeping, hot infections respond best to sandalwood oil and honey with systemic support through oral supplementation of anti-infection herbs.

Of course, with any injury or dis-ease, the advice of a health care practitioner is essential. The FDA has not approved this information. We do not diagnose or prescribe for you or your animals - we just like to share information.

We love the rich, healing scent of Frankincense!

Naturalpaths and Dharmahorse have had problems staying online since our move - we hope to have the "bugs" out soon and return to uninterrupted weekly herbal newsletters! We appreciate your patience and connections.
