Greetings!
Cannabis satvia is "Hemp" and is used for making rope, textiles and the like. Cannabis indica is also "Hemp" and has been used for medicinal purposes for centuries.
HEMP SEED is almost 50% HEMP OIL which contains 80% essential fatty acids! The nourishing seeds are a very digestable protein source; containing a more complete amino acid structure than meat, soy or dairy products. Hemp seed and oil are full of Omega 3's, essential minerals and contain no gluten.
Hemp seeds (usually slightly "ground") can be added to yogurt, to cereals, toppings for crakers or chips, etc. Cooking will destroy nutrients - and the seeds should be stored in the refrigerator (oil, also). Horses can be fed up to a quarter cup daily (it is pricey, so a teaspoon now and then can suffice!) and dogs would get just a pinch daily. People can use the Hemp seed oil as a salad dressing; added to cottage cheese and so on. The nutritional "punch" it will give to any diet is well worth the cost. Hemp seeds and the hemp seed oil can be found in health food markets and should be in the refrigerated section.
Hemp seeds and the oil are edible for all species (they are added to most bird seed mixes to boost nutrients) and nourish the skin from within - can heal eczema - as well as being anti-inflammatory. Hemp seed oil is used in topical skin moisturizers and massage oils.
"Medical" Cannabis is effectively used to strengthen brain cells and in Alzheimers treatment. It stops vomitting, increases appetite, eases nausea and decreases pressure in the eye ball. It makes an ointment for topical use that stops pain and itching that other treatments have failed to control.
Cannabidiol from Cannabis has been shown to inhibit cancer cells and stop metastasis!
A recipe for the healing ointment (that can be made in countries or states where the use of medical cannabis is legal!) was taught to me decades ago (when the herb actually was legal here) by a friend who had run a spike through the bone of her finger; pulled it out and healed the wound with this salve! I personally knew it to soothe a horse whose face had been sutured back together and the pain and itching were intolerable until we rescued him with this:
Slowly warm 1 large tablespoon of organic herb into 1 cup of oil (olive oil is perfect -sunflower or safflower are good) in a double boiler or a small enameled or glass pot set into a larger pot of simmering water. Keep the water topped up and warm the mixture for 45 minutes to an hour. Strain oil while hot and immediately place a half ounce of pure beeswax into the oil, stirring until it melts. Pour into a jar (glass is best) right away and let cool. All of these ingredients are healing in their own right and the cannabis stops the pain and itch.
Of course, the FDA and USDA have not approved any of this information and you should always consult a holistic practitioner in cases or injury or illness. We offer this as information only and do not diagnose or prescribe.
