Herb of the Week

Almond - Amygdalus dulcis
Greetings!

ALMOND nut kernels provide healing and nourishing food and oil.
For young animals and humans, the nuts are blanched in boiling water to remove the brown "skin" and the internal white "meat" is ground to a nourishing meal that is added to milk and fed in small amounts often. This food is used for bowel health, coughs and lung disorders and to restore strength during illness. Three almonds eaten daily are said to help resist cancer in humans. Of course, keeping the body nourished and vibrant on all levels will be a deterrent to cancers, parasites, infections and the like (opportunistic invaders!) - As will the nourishing of the body enable it to fight a better fight.

Almond oil and Almond butter are supreme emollients for skin health and can be used on all creatures safely. For wounds and sores on horses, apply several times daily. Use the oil for cracked noses on dogs and for sore eyelids on anyone.

You can find pure Almond Oil at a health food store or the herbalists'.

Remember, all beings are individuals and each metabolism is unique. If you have a reaction from an herb or an oil; stop using it immediately. Contact your holistic health care practitioner in cases of illness or injury and for advice about reactions to remedies.
