Greetings!
CLEAVERS are an important herb for owners of gray horses! They possess strong anti-tumor properties when used internally and externally. I have fed the dry, cut and sifted herb to all of my gray, white and Appaloosa horses for decades. And, because I've been living in a valley where copious amounts of chemicals are just poured onto the crops - I feed Cleavers to all of our horses about 6 to 8 months of each year. (Also, I feed burdock root, milk thistle and raw, fresh beets!)
I feed a large handful of the herb daily to a horse in need and give one tablespoon daily on the feed prophilactically. I often include Cleavers in custom herbal blends for horses because it is FULL of minerals that build and repair bone, muscle, skin, hair (all cuteaneous structures) and hoof!
I use Cleavers tincture for people and dogs. I always evaporate the alcohol by placing the drops in hot water before giving to animals. A large dog or human would take 30 drops of tincture twice a day as a loading dose for 10 days; then once daily for maintenence. Medium dogs get between 10 and 15 drops; small dogs get 5 drops.
I feed Cleavers to support the healing of any skin disease or disorder. I believe in it for any tumor or cancer, even within the body because it supports the tissue that is trying to normalize.
Externally:
The dry Cleavers herb is used with equal amounts of flaxseed meal mixed into a paste with boiling water to create a poultice for tumors. (check our email archive for Katharine's anti-tumor remedy - even better, buy the Holistic Horse Care EBook from the
Naturalpaths Store which includes the recipe!) This can be used on horses, dogs and people.
