Herb of the Week
Eyebright - Euphrasia officinalis
Greetings!

Eyebright
is used as an infusion (tea) orally to strengthen the eyes and heal disorders in all species. It can be used as a compress for injuries near the eye and will soothe the sinuses and support healing of throat irritations. It is known to reduce allergic reactions. With consistent use orally and as an eye drop (weak infusion with a pinch of sea salt) it reverses cataracts in some people and animals. The eye wash is used to heal styes - another good eye wash for styes is a weak decoction of bayberry bark!

The Eyebright herb can be found in capsules that are convenient for people (use recommended dosage) and for dogs (put 1/2 capsule content in food for small dogs; up to 2 caps fed to very large dogs). Horses can be fed a handful of cut and sifted herb daily in a mash.

Homeopathic Euphrasia is an immediate healer for injuries to the eye! Give the pellets orally, under the tongue or dissolve in water and dose to dogs. You can put the pellets into a piece of apple for a horse. Use homeopathics in small doses every 15 minutes for acute conditions, 3 times a day for older problems.
