Herb of the Week
EYEBRIGHT - Euphrasia officinalis
Greetings!
Eyebright is a remarkable healer for the eyes. It is used internally as an infusion (tea) to drink or add to food. It is used externally as a well-strained tea for an eye wash. In both uses, Eyebright strengthens the sight and heals disorders of the eyes. It is high in sulfur and potassium making it useful as a digestive aid.

Eyebright is used for weak and inflamed eyes, keratitis, conjunctivitis and ulcers. It is nervine, astringent and tonic in its actions. The cut and sifted, dry herb can be fed by the handful, daily to horses. The tea or tincture can be used internally for people and dogs. Alcohol based tinctures should be dropped into warm water to evaporate the alcohol for dogs and for children. Drink a cup of tea up to 3 times daily for adult humans. Give a large dog one cup of tea divided into 2 or 3 servings through the day. Small dogs and small children should have 1/2 cup per day of the brewed tea/infusion. Tinctures are usually 10 - 30 drops for a person or large dog; 5 -15 drops for a child or small dog. Check labels.

Eyebright also comes in capsule form. The Homeopathic "EUPHRASIA" is made from Eyebright and is an immediately effective medicine for eye disease or injury.
