HERB OF THE WEEK
UVA URSI - Arctostaphylos uva-ursi
Greetings!
Uva Ursi is a supreme Urinary Tract inflammation remedy. Also called "Bearberry", it is diuretic and antibacterial with astringent/antiseptic properties that cleanse urine production. I make an infusion for people or dogs (a "cup of tea") to sip on throughout the day. I feed the dry leaves to horses - one handful in the morning and one handful in the evening feeds for 3 to 7 days.

Uva Ursi contains hydroquinnones including arbutin; flavonoids including quercitin; tannins, volatile oils and iridoids. It is indicated for painful urination, cystitis and any inflammatory conditions of the urinary tract. These statements have not been evaluated by the FDA.

You can find Uva Ursi in capsules, tinctures and as "bulk", loose herbs at health food stores. Natural Paths will offer bulk herbs and the Dharma Horse supplements (herbal combinations) starting in June. Watch the site: www.naturalpaths.org  for information and order forms. Go to www.dharmahorse.com to order the supplements now.

We believe that Good Health is the Natural Condition and we nourish it with everything we do.
