Seatack's Pool to Undergo Renovations

Seatack PoolThe pool at Seatack Recreation Center will be closed for renovations beginning August 22. While there is no definite time frame to modernize Seatack Recreation Center, which opened in 1997, maintenance will be completed to extend the life of the pool facility:

  • The fiberglass pool shell will be replaced.
  • The pool filter will be replaced.
  • The diving board will be replaced.
  • Portions of the deck will be retiled.

Renovations are expected to continue through November 2011. During this time, the swimming pool will be closed, but all other areas of Seatack Recreation Center will remain open for use. Seatack's swim team will practice at Great Neck Recreation Center until Seatack's pool reopens. We'll keep you updated on the progress.

The next movie that will be shown is Surf's Up on August 12 at Princess Anne. The movie begins at 6 pm. A valid membership or visitor pass is needed and those under age 9 must be accompanied by someone age 16 or older in the water. Bring a friend or the whole family and get in on the fun!
Is Your Child Safe Near the Water?

Boy at Beach It's summer and playing at the beach, at a water park, by a lake, or in a pool can be a real refreshing treat, especially on a hot day. Sometimes though, fun activities can turn into a devastating event quickly. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention states, "Fatal drowning remains the second-leading cause of unintentional, injury-related death for children ages 1 to 14 years."

Ensure that your children are safe in the water by registering them for swimming lessons! Recreation centers offer swimming lessons for infants 12 months and up. Swimming lessons are based on the learning standards of the American Red Cross and are taught by certified American Red Cross Water Safety Instructors. Lessons are offered all year long and private one-on-one lessons are available as well. Registration is on a first come first serve basis. Check our offerings in the Summer Catalog.
