Youth Camps Off to a Great Start!
Although we've had some questionable weather, our camps have gotten off to a great start. We have some budding tennis stars in the making! Camps continue throughout the summer and many have spaces available.
Camps run Monday through Friday from either 9:00 am to noon or 1:00 to 4:00 pm.
We offer both an outdoor morning camp and an indoor afternoon camp for those wanting to beat the heat. Morning camps are offered at Owl Creek Tennis Center, Bayville Farms Park, Kempsville Recreation Center and Lynnhaven Middle School. All afternoon camps are held at the bubble at Owl Creek Tennis Center. Register your child in person at any recreation center or at Owl Creek Tennis Center.
Pro Tip: Perfect Practice Makes Perfect
 by USPTA Pro Scott Baxter

We've all heard the saying "Practice makes perfect." Unfortunately, in a sport like tennis that revolves so heavily around muscle memory, this isn't always the case. If you want your lessons to pay off and your strokes to improve, you must use the technique you're learning whenever you play to reinforce the muscle memory. If after your lesson you ignore everything you've learned and use poor technique, you're actually reinforcing the bad habits and making it harder to relearn the correct muscle memory later. In summary, practice doesn't make perfect; perfect practice makes perfect.
