Winter Wildlife Festival Recap

Winter Wildlife FestivalThe First Annual (and second attempted) Winter Wildlife Festival was a huge success this year! Over the course of the weekend, nearly 300 participants joined us for 17 excursion and workshops. The highlights of the weekend included seeing seals off the rocks of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, hearing several screech owls at the First Landing Owl Prowl and seeing the beautiful pictures of the magnificent snow geese migration. In addition, our exhibit hall and children's area were well attended and very well received. Check out a video clip of the event from Access Virginia Beach.

We'd like to send special thanks to our 2011 Festival Partners: the Department of Game & Inland Fisheries, the Virginia Aquarium, Virginia State Parks, Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge, Lynnhaven River NOW and the Virginia Beach Audubon Society. With help of our partners, we were able to give away two awesome festival prize packs; congratulations to our winners John M. and Kathleen C.!

We plan on hosting another festival next January, so please keep an eye out for save the date information to come shortly.
