Plan for Spring Break! Camps Available

Virginia Beach Public Schools Spring Break: April 18-22 

 

Spring BreakThe kids may be on vacation, but chances are you still have to work! That's why we're offering several different spring break camps that will keep your child active and engaged. Camps run April 18-22 unless otherwise noted.

 

Kinderbuddies Spring Break Camps (Grade K)

7 am - 6 pm | Kempsville & Princess Anne Recreation Centers | $135 | Register!

 

Youth Spring Break Camps (Grades 1 - 6)

7 am - 6 pm | All Recreation Centers | $125 | Register! 

 

Teen Spring Break Camps (Grades 7 - 9)

7 am - 6 pm | Bayside & Princess Anne Recreation Centers | $135 | Register!

 

Extreme Outdoors Camp (Grades 5 - 8)

Archery, canoeing, kayaking, rock wall climbing and more.
9 am - 5 pm | Seatack Recreation Center | $150 | Register! 

 

Skateboard Sessions (Grades 1 - 6)

Teaches kids the basics of park skateboarding, including safety, park etiquette, and riding techniques. A skateboard and helmet are required; knee and elbow pads recommended.
9:00 - 11:0 am | April 19 - April 21 | Mount Trashmore Park | $64 | Register! 

 

Soccer Camp (Grades 1 - 8)

Provides high-level soccer coaching from a team of international experts. Each day will include drills, practices, small games and a daily tournament. Register at ChallengerSports.com.  
9 am - 12 noon | Princess Anne Athletic Complex | $155

9 am - 4 pm | Princess Anne Athletic Complex | $230 

 

Tennis Camp (Ages 5-17)

Teaches youth the basic tennis strokes, rules of the game and etiquette.
9 am - 12 noon | Owl Creek Tennis Center | $145 | Register! 

 

Registration began in September and continues as space is available.

Snow Carnival (Age 5 & under with parent)

Our winters are rarely white, but we can still celebrate this chilly season with indoor games and activities. There's SNOW way to avoid having fun at this carnival. Snack provided. Register by Jan 19.

Little Cupids Carnival (Age 5 & under with parent)

A Valentine's Day celebration for the lil' ones. We'll play carnival games, work on a craft project and enjoy refreshments. Wear pink or red and get a little goodie. Register by Feb 4.

Munchkins St. Patty's Day (Age 3-5)

Calling all Leprechauns! Let's celebrate St. Patrick's Day. We will play games, have a special story time, sing and dance, enjoy a yummy green snack, punch and have a 4-leaf clover hunt. Goodie bags will be given out to all participants.

Dr. Seuss' Birthday (Age 5 & under with parent)

Listen to some Dr. Seuss favorites and play games while enjoying green eggs and ham to celebrate this imaginative storyteller's birthday. Register by Mar 9.

Note: Out-of-School Time Programs Change for January 31 

 

As a result of a school closure on December 16 from snow, January 31 will now be the make-up day for lost instructional time at Virginia Beach schools. The make-up day of January 31 will also be an adjusted dismissal day for all students. The all day camps scheduled for this date have been cancelled and refunds have been processed. Regular before and after school programs will be in effect on January 31.

Let Us Host Your Child's Next Birthday Party! 

 

Birthday GirlLeave the headaches of planning your child's next birthday party to us! You can enjoy the party and we'll handle the details. Virginia Beach Recreation Centers offer a variety of party options for children age 1 through 12. Select from:

 

- Birthday Blast (age 1-12) | All Centers

- Rock Climbing Party (age 6-12) | Great Neck & Seatack

- Game Room Party (age 3-12) | All Centers except Seatack 

- Nerf® War Party (age 8-12) | Bow Creek & Great Neck

- Pool Party (age 3-12) | All Centers

- Sports Party (age 6-12) | All Centers except Kempsville

 

All parties include cake, ice cream, beverages, plates & napkins, balloons, and staff to help run the event from start to finish with organized activities. Fun inflatables are available as an add-on for an additional cost. Amenities vary by site.

 

Parties can be held on Friday evenings or weekends. Prices are based on the number of children who attend. Reservations are required at least two weeks in advance at your selected center. Visit our Birthday Parties webpage for additional information and costs.

Please Note Our Upcoming Facility Closures 

 

All Virginia Beach Recreation Centers, Owl Creek Tennis Center, parks and park facilities will be closed on Monday, January 17 for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

 

Bow Creek Recreation Center will be closed February 28 through March 6 for maintenance.

 

Seatack Recreation Center will be closed March 14-20 for maintenance.

 

The pool at Kempsville Recreation Center will be closed through Spring 2011 for renovations.

 

Don't forget that your membership is good at all six Virginia Beach Recreation Centers! If your usual center is closed for maintenance, take the opportunity to visit another center. Use this locator to help you find one!
