Grand Opening of New Kids Cove!
December 10, 2:00 pm | Mount Trashmore Park

Kid's Cove Phase 1
Rendering of Kids Cove Playground
Bring the kids and join us for the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at the new Kids Cove playground at Mount Trashmore Park on December 10! At nearly 26,000 square feet, the new playground is almost two times the size of the existing Kids Cove, and is comprised of a general play area, a swing area and a climber area, along with four new mini-picnic shelters. The new play area is fully compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and will be barrier-free to accommodate all children.

Some of the design features of the new playground will pay tribute to the original 14,000 square foot wooden Kids Cove playground built by volunteers in 1993. While beloved and very popular, the existing wooden playground is not fully accessible and cannot be modernized to meet current ADA guidelines.

The ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 2:00 pm on December 10 and will include a tribute to the wooden playground. It is anticipated that the wooden playground will be removed in early spring of 2011.
