Don't Just Watch... Get In the Game!
Fall 2010 Coed Sand Football Registration
Sand Football is a coed flag league that has been around for over 20 years. The game is played 6 on 6 with a minimum of two females on the field at a time. Teams may carry up to 15 players.
Games consist of two 40-minute halves and are played on the beach at the Oceanfront on Sunday mornings. The season is tentatively scheduled to start October 3 and will run until mid-January. Sand football shares much in common with its grassy counterpart, but there are a few differences in the scoring. A touchdown is worth 6 points. If a female runs, throws or catches a touchdown, it will be worth 9 points.
The scoring team has the option on the Point After Touchdown to try for 1 point from the 3-yard line, 2 points from the 10-yard line, or 3 points from the 15-yard line. The offensive team must declare their intention prior to the officials putting the ball in play. If the defense intercepts the ball and returns it for a score, it will count for the number of points the offense was attempting.
Team registration is September 1-10 at the City-Wide Athletics Office located at 4001 Dam Neck Road. Entry fee is $675 per team. Get a registration form here. For more information, call the City-Wide Athletics Office at 385-0458. |
