Pro Tip: Be a Balanced Net Player
 by Owl Creek Staff

Tennis NetDo you like playing the net but seem to find yourself always leaning the wrong way to volley? Usually this is a function of not properly balancing your weight over each foot. Players have the tendency to put more weight on one foot, making it difficult to change directions.

Here are a few tips to improve your balance:
  1. Complete a proper split step when approaching the net
  2. Keep shoulders up as much as possible
  3. Keep a good knee bend and get on the balls of your feet
  4. After the first volley, re-balance and prepare for the next shot
Coming this Fall: Cardio Tennis

Cardio Tennis will return to our weekly schedule this Fall. Cardio Tennis is a fast paced aerobic workout involving various tennis strokes and footwork drills. These classes are a great way to get into top physical shape for those long singles matches. We're still finalizing our schedule, so please call our pro shop for further details. Additional information about Cardio Tennis can be found at www.CardioTennis.com.
Junior Team Tennis Fall Registration

JTT FallUSTA Jr. Team Tennis brings kids together in teams to play singles, doubles and mixed doubles against other teams. It promotes social skills and important values by fostering a spirit of cooperation and unity, as well as individual self-growth. Also, it's a fun environment for kids in which they learn that succeeding is really more about how they play the game - win or lose. The Fall JTT season will start after Labor Day and include the following divisions:
  • 10 and under intermediate
  • 12 and under intermediate & advanced
  • 14 and under intermediate & advanced
  • 18 and under intermediate & advanced
If you need assistance finding a team for your child, please contact the Area League Coordinator, Donny Weed at 385-7732, or email OceanfrontTennis@cox.net.
