Kids Cove Playground Expansion Underway
Phase 1 Play Area Rendering
Kid's Cove Phase 1
Last week, construction began to expand the Kids Cove Playground Area at Mount Trashmore Park. Phase I of the project will be built in close proximity to the current play structure and will feature rubber playground surfacing and three new play areas - a general play area, a swing area, and a climber area. The new play area will be almost two times the size of the existing Kids Cove, and will also include four new mini-picnic shelters, landscaping, walkways, and other amenities as part of the project. Additionally, the new play area will be fully compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and will be barrier-free to accommodate all children.
Some of the design features of the new playground pay tribute to the original 14,000 square feet wooden Kids Cove playground built by volunteers in 1993. While beloved and very popular, the existing wooden playground is not fully accessible and cannot be modernized to fully meet current ADA guidelines or today's guidelines and standards for public use playgrounds.
During construction, the original Kids Cove playground and parking lots will remain available for public use. Construction is scheduled to be complete in November 2010. Check out the concept plans to see what's coming!

Junior Team Tennis Summer Program
