Crack Into Egg Nutrition!
EggEggs are inexpensive, contain the highest-quality protein on the planet, and are loaded vital nutrients, including folate, riboflavin, selenium, B12, and choline. At about 70 calories apiece, eggs are a nutrient-dense food that also play a role in weight management, muscle strength, healthy pregnancy, brain function, eye health and more.
  • Eggs contain all nine essential amino acids, making them a complete-protein food.
  • One egg provides 6 grams of protein, or 12% of the Recommended Daily Value.
  • A large egg contains about 72 calories, 55 of which come from the yolk.
  • Eggs are one of the few foods that naturally contain vitamin D.
  • Two eggs - including the yolks - contain about 250 milligrams of choline, or roughly half the Recommended Daily Value. Choline is essential for normal functioning of all cells, including those involved with metabolism, brain and nerve function, memory and the transportation of nutrients throughout the body.
  • Lutein and zeaxanthin, two antioxidants found in egg yolks, help prevent macular degeneration, a leading cause of age-related blindness.
  • To reduce calories, fat, and cholesterol in recipes, use more egg whites and fewer yolks.
