Staff in the Spotlight
Wanda Truett has been working with the Therapeutic Recreation Programs since the summer of 2005. She has worked in several of our programs including Camp Explore, Extended Care, Around Town, Champions, Just Wanna Dance, and Swim, Stretch, or Tone. Wanda enjoys working with the participants and helping them meet their goals. "Each participant is different and as they grow, I feel that I grow with them. Having this job is a reward because every day I receive a golden reward from at least one participant when they say, "Look Ms. Wanda I did it!" with a big, happy smile." When Wanda is not working in the Therapeutic Recreation Programs, she enjoys sitting on the beach with her music enjoying the ocean breeze.
Allyson Ford is currently attending Tidewater Community College to become accredited as an Occupational Therapy Assistant. Allyson started working with the Therapeutic Recreation Programs in the summer of 2009. Since working Camp Explore, Allyson has worked in other programs such as All-Stars, Just Wanna Dance, and Swim, Stretch, or Tone. Her favorite part of her job is "seeing all of the participants making progress towards different goals while enjoying themselves." Once Allyson achieves her accreditation as an Occupational Therapy Assistant, she will pursue other opportunities within the field working with people with special needs. |
