Nominate Outstanding Youth & Adults for Best All Around
Do you know youth who stand out for their leadership, community involvement, positive influence or who showed courage in overcoming adversity? Do you know adults who contribute to the community through their outstanding and inspirational work with youth? If so, consider nominating them for one of Virginia Beach's Best All Around Awards. Completed nominations are due by March 1, 2010. Nominees must be in one of two categories: 1. Youth who live in Virginia Beach and are enrolled in grades 1 - 12 2. Adults who volunteer or work with Virginia Beach youth (such as a coach, teacher, mentor, social worker, probation officer, etc.) The criteria for Virginia Beach's Best All Around awards are based on the 40 Developmental AssetsŪ, which are positive experiences and personal qualities that help young people grow up to be healthy, principled and caring adults. Nomination forms are available online at VBgov.com/YOO. The Best All Around program is sponsored by the Virginia Beach Youth Opportunities Team and Virginia Beach Parks and Recreation. |

Marshview Park Recreational Trail Grant
Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation has applied for a grant funding to build the first trail on the Marshview property, an 82-acre parcel of undeveloped land at the Oceanfront, between the neighborhoods of Lands End, Salt Marsh Point, Seatack, and Shadowlawn on Lake Rudee. The City's Outdoors Plan recommended that the City acquire the Marshview property for a future public park. The site will provide a unique upland, waterfront park property for Virginia Beach residents to enjoy.
The grant would provide funding for a 2,000 foot long trail with 3 bridges. Learn more about the property, view maps and provide feedback at VBgov.com/MarshviewPark. |
