Master the Benefits of Swimming
Swimming is such a great exercise that it can easily become a lifetime sport with benefits for the whole body. Not only do you work all of your large muscle groups at the same time, swimming can also help improve joint flexibility, lower blood pressure, improve blood circulation, help with weight loss and increase your cardiovascular stamina. At the Virginia Beach Recreation Centers, we offer many options to get you swimming; from beginner adult swimming classes to the more advanced Masters swim program.
Here are some programs that are currently being offered:
Masters Swim Workout
(Age 18 & up)
Master the skills of swimming with an experienced and trained swim coach. Whether your goal is to get fit or train for a triathlon, these structured workouts will help you with stroke improvement and training techniques for a variety of strokes. This class is for the avid lap swimmer who can swim 100 meters continuous freestyle. 3 punches on a group fitness punch card
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7-8am at Bayside
Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 7:45-8:45am at Great Neck
Mondays and Wednesdays, 6:30-7:30pm at Seatack
Adult Swimming (Age 16 & up)
Learn to swim and get fit! This class includes both American Red Cross Learn to Swim skills for beginners and advanced workout/fitness techniques. Since the class is customized to the individual, it is ideal for all swimmers from beginners to those preparing for the Masters swim program.
