Tennis Newsletter | September 2009 |
It's hard to believe that summer is coming to an end and fall is on our doorstep.  Fall is a great time to get involved in tennis with league play, luncheon league participation, drop-in clinics and private lessons.  Owl Creek's fall program begins September 28th and includes a full schedule of youth and adult programs.  Please click the links to the right to view our complete offerings.

Check out this list of lighted tennis courts throughout Virginia Beach if you plan to get out and play in the evenings, and don't forget that each and every Friday from 5:30-7pm, we conduct a round robin on the outdoor courts at Owl Creek.  Please call by Thursday to add your name and partner to the list. There is an 8 person minimum for each week and the cost is $10 per player.
If you have a group looking for an indoor seasonal, please contact Mike Mustgrave at to receive 2009/2010 information.

Pro Tip: Improve Your Return of Serve
  1. Don't get caught flat footed! Start moving your feet as the server begins their tossing motion.
  2. As the server makes contact with the ball, use your split step to give you the ability to move in either direction to return the serve.
  3. Take a short backswing.  A bigger swing will leave less time to ready your racquet.
  4. Step into the swing and utilize your body's forward momentum.
