Attention Athletes Age 50 and Better!
It's time again for the annual Forever Fit Games where those age 50 and up have the opportunity to let their talents shine in a variety of sports and activities! The event will be held October 2nd-3rd and competitions include: badminton, basketball, billiards, bocce, cornhole, horseshoes, pickleball, shuffleboards, softball hit and throw, swimming, table tennis and track & field. The $20 registration fee entitles participants to their choice of five events.
Swimming competitions:
- 50-Meter Freestyle
- 50-Meter Backstroke
- 50-Meter Breaststroke
- 50-Meter Butterfly
- 1/4-Mile Swim
- 100-Meter Freestyle
- 200 Freestyle
- 100 Individual Medley

Just for Teens Swim Class!
 Virginia Beach Parks and Recreation's Aquatic Unit is pleased to announce a Learn to Swim program that is geared toward teens. This program enables teens to learn valuable swimming skills with their peers in a supportive and fun environment. It is ideal for any teen who wants to enjoy the water safely, regardless of skill level or ability.
Learn to Swim - Teen (Ages 12-15) The American Red Cross Learn to Swim Program is a six-level instructional program. Instructors are trained and certified by the American Red Cross. Each level of the Learn to Swim program includes training in basic water safety and helping others in an emergency. This course is intended for teens with little to no swimming experience (American Red Cross Levels 1-3). A current Recreation Center membership or day pass is required for participation. Registration begins September 12th.

Please Note Our Upcoming Facility Closures
Great Neck Recreation Center will be closed for maintenance from Monday, August 31st to Monday, September 7th.
Princess Anne Recreation Center will be closed for maintenance from Monday, September 14th to Sunday, September 20th. The pool at Princess Anne will remain closed through September 27th.
All Virginia Beach Recreation Centers will be closed on Monday, September 6th for Labor Day. |
