Hope you had a great Memorial Day!

Tennis season is in full swing.  Spring leagues are winding down and summer leagues are about to begin.  Our adult and junior classes are going strong and we've got a great lineup of courses for summer.  View our offerings using the catalog links to the right.  Registration began June 6.
We now have a mixed doubles round robin every Friday evening from 5:30-7:00 pm.  Give us a call to sign up and bring your partner!  All levels are welcome and the cost is only $10 per person!

Youth summer camps are beginning soon.  Don't forget to register your child!  Camps are ideal for all levels, beginner to experienced.

Stop by our pro shop this month to check out the latest in tennis gear.  We also have the newest Wilson racquets, K series FX, available to demo.  See the offer below for $30 off a K series racquet!

Our pros are available each day for private lessons or clinics.  They'll make sure you're on top of your game this season.  Call today to schedule a lesson!

Owl Creek Pro Tip: Volleying Like a Pro
Looking to improve your volleys when it comes to control and placement?  Several factors can play a role in improving this stroke.
If you are not using a proper volley grip, start to slowly make the change to the continental grip with your pro.  This grip will allow you to execute every type of volley from the very difficult low ball to the high ball.
  1. When volleying, focus on leading with the bottom edge of the racquet.  Do not swing over the top of normal volleys.
  2. Learn control of the volley first.  Ignore the desire for power initially.  Power will come, but control is the initial goal.
  3. Visualize placement of your volley. Choose a specific area of the court and focus on this area when executing the shot.
  4. Finally, stay calm at the net.  Many of us have a tendency to be very excited because the ball is coming quickly and our reaction time is limited.
Spaces Available in Youth Summer Camps
Tennis CampIf you are looking for an introduction to tennis for your kids, summer camps are a great choice. Camp participants are divided by level and all players are introduced to the fundamentals of the game.  Our camps are game-based where students learn a stroke and are given the opportunity to fine tune in a controlled game environment. More experienced participants will be exposed to advanced drills and playing situations. Older kids often progress to an end of week tournament.

If you need assistance with summer camp choices, please contact one of our tennis professionals at 385-2695.
Courts Getting a Facelift at Owl Creek
All twelve outdoor courts at Owl Creek Tennis Center are getting repaired and resurfaced.  The project will be done in stages to minimize disruption and should be completed in six weeks given good weather.  We are currently in the process of renovations on our north courts.  South courts remain open in addition to our indoor facility.  Court reservations are suggested.  To reserve a court, please call 385-2695.  We look forward to providing you with an even better tennis facility!
Adult Beginners, Let Us Help You Get Started!
