Owl Creek Pro Tip: Volleying Like a Pro
Looking to improve your volleys when it comes to control and placement? Several factors can play a role in improving this stroke.
If you are not using a proper volley grip, start to slowly make the change to the continental grip with your pro. This grip will allow you to execute every type of volley from the very difficult low ball to the high ball.
- When volleying, focus on leading with the bottom edge of the racquet. Do not swing over the top of normal volleys.
- Learn control of the volley first. Ignore the desire for power initially. Power will come, but control is the initial goal.
- Visualize placement of your volley. Choose a specific area of the court and focus on this area when executing the shot.
- Finally, stay calm at the net. Many of us have a tendency to be very excited because the ball is coming quickly and our reaction time is limited.

Spaces Available in Youth Summer Camps
If you are looking for an introduction to tennis for your kids, summer camps are a great choice. Camp participants are divided by level and all players are introduced to the fundamentals of the game. Our camps are game-based where students learn a stroke and are given the opportunity to fine tune in a controlled game environment. More experienced participants will be exposed to advanced drills and playing situations. Older kids often progress to an end of week tournament.
