Immigrant and Refugee Legal Support
Resources for Adult Learners and their Families
Learn about services to support your learner!

Greetings!,

Legal problems can be overhwhelming for anyone, but especially for people who are new to the country or have language barriers. Sometimes our students are unsure how to go about applying for a green card, or they want to know if they can adopt a relative back home, while some students simply need to speak with a legal advocate to learn more about their rights in this country. Legal issues around immigration can be very complex and require an in-depth knowledge of the systems and services available. Northwest Immigrant Rights Project has advocates and pro-bono attorneys who specialize in this area (see information below). The King County Bar Association provides FREE Neighborhood Legal Clinics staffed by volunteer attorneys who can offer 30 mintues of one-to-one legal consultation (click here to learn more). These are just a few of the agencies that work with immigrants and refugees by providing advocacy, support, and information.

If you'd like to learn more about other legal services you can call the Community Information Line at 206-461-3200, or just dial 211 from any 206 area code.

As always, please let me know if you have any questions or need additional information about these resources.
