Even when something is no longer alive it possesses a tremendous amount of ENERGY. This is the inside of the body of a spider crab. The blue color is totally natural!
swans
Did you know that swans mate for life? That connection fuels the ENERGY to live a long and healthy life!

"Walk with the dreamers, the believers, the courageous, the cheerful, the planners, the doers, the successful people with their heads in the clouds and their feet on the ground. Let their spirit ignite a fire within you to leave this world better than when you found it...."

- Wilfred Peterson

Our new Winter Office is so sunny this Spring that in the afternoon, Rob works under an umbrella enrolling campers at his computer. Talk about ENERGY...we've got it!
BDC IS GREEN!

We use and sell sustainably sourced bamboo pens and recyclable plastic BDC lunch bags in the camp store.

We encourage campers and staff to take care of the earth through our robust recycling program.

Our camp pool is kept clean in a environmentally friendly way, using saline and chlorine to make the water softer and more gentle on skin and the earth.

Hello BDC Family and Friends,

Is it the chicken or the egg?

This month of May, camp directors (and I suspect others as well) are fueled by the ENERGY of the longer days and the warmer weather. Do we do more in the Spring because the days are longer, or are the longer days forcing us to cram more and more into each day? Regardless, ENERGY has been on my mind...

There are many different types of ENERGY. We often link ENERGY with excitement. Though ENERGY can also be peaceful, like a vibe or a good feeling. When you are with someone you love, ENERGY can be a sense of well being or warmth. Or a sparkly, kind of feisty ENERGY can be felt when you are with someone who challenges your mind. There is also the ENERGY created by doing something well. This is different from the ENERGY of attempting something new for the first time. Sometimes we assert ENERGY in positive ways, and sometimes we waste our ENERGY in useless directions like worrying or being anxious for no reason.

What fuels your ENERGY? In the next six weeks, the earth will turn such that in the Northern Hemisphere we will enjoy the longest days of the year. What will you do with all of this ENERGY? I hope you will come share it at BDC!

Wishing you ENERGY well spent and of course...

CHGS+P!

Wind
BDC NOW: Rob and Misa are thrilled that the city of Providence just installed three wind turbines close to our Winter Office which will provide enough ENERGY to power the entire sewage treatment plant nearby! Harnessing wind power is a clean source of ENERGY. What do you think about that?

(Special thanks to Dan Michel, photographer extraordinaire, as he laid down in the dirt to capture this awesome photo!)

Mentors and mentees share a special kind of ENERGY which fuels each to be better because of and for the other. This is a special ingredient in the magic that is camp - especially found at BDC!

"Energy and persistence conquer
all things.
"

- Benjamin Franklin

Sometimes ENERGY feels calm and secure. At BDC, we create opportunities for children to simply be. We often remind ourselves that "to be" is an active verb. Being is a very important part of what goes on at camp!

SOME GOOD ENERGY FROM OUR FAMILIES!

"This is the best run camp I've ever seen. The atmosphere is fun, beautifully run, friendly and safe."

"You are positive and encouraging. You make the children feel safe physically and emotionally."

"Always welcoming parents with a smile! Thank you!"

"You have created a respectful, welcoming, wholesome, and fun-loving environment that works for everyone!"

"The depth of your problem-solving approach is truly remarkable."

"BDC is a wonderful place. My kids learned to swim there, do boating, archery...you name it, they did it this summer. But the most important thing they learned was how to get along with other kids, have a good time and make positive, lasting relationships with the other campers and counselors."

"If camp perfection could be bottled, BDC would own the market."

THANK YOU FOR SENDING US SUCH POSITIVE THOUGHTS!

Wishing you and your family
Courage, Hope, Good Spirit, and Peace!
