Watch your thoughts:
They become your words.
Watch your words: They become your actions.
Watch your actions:
They become your habits.
Watch your habits:
They become your character.

Hello BDC Family,
Tonight at dinner, I asked my husband and our 13 and 15 year old sons, "What is character?" They all agreed on this definition:
CHARACTER IS WHAT YOU SHOW WHEN NO ONE IS LOOKING! I think that just about sums it up! At BDC, we are continually looking at each other's behavior ~ campers and counselors alike. We expect, from the adults and the children on our campus, a high level of moral integrity coupled with sound decision making. Through clear communication and honest reflection we strive to grow in ways that make each of us better as individuals and as a whole. Thus, whether we find ourselves together or alone, our best selves remain with us!
In this eWaves, look for other ideas and images reflecting the building of strong character. Until I write again,
I am wishing you... CHGS+P!
Milisa 'misa' Galazzi, DirectorBrewster Day CampP.S. Happy Valentine's Day to you and yours on February 14th!

BDC NOW: Since our office is literally packed as this email hits your inbox, we thought it would be fun to take our monthly photo outside the camp office mayhem! We are standing next to the bust of John Hay (1838-1905). He was a man of such strong character that his friends and colleagues at Brown University created The John Hay Library. The plaque behind him reads:
AND...if strength of character is flagging....good old-fashioned luck sometimes comes in handy....
...The tradition at Brown University remains today: If you rub the nose of John Hay, you will have good luck on momentous life events such as your college exams or, in our case, A SMOOTH MOVE to our new BDC Winter Office. Pictures soon!

Working independently while gaining skills at Archery such as concentration, hand-eye coordination, breath control, and practicing being fully present. This is one way campers at BDC build their strength of character. Come see us in action this summer to see for yourself!
