Greetings!
I have a much deeper respect for editors and other folks that coordinate content for the masses. Every time I work this news letter stuff I struggle with what to include and wind up waiting for that one last piece to include. If think you missed the July issue, don't worry, I just never got to closure on the content and it has become August. Remember in a former life I was an engineer.
Since I last wrote, I have had the pleasure of visiting the Washington DC area to attend our youngest daughter, Leah's, engagement party. Her fiancee, Ross proposed last winter and his folks throw them a garden party to celebrate. Ross and Leah plan to tie the knot officially next June in Florida. Its great to see them happy and thriving with all that is going on in the world.
We are still holding our own at Words and AfterWords. Our line up for August/September is packed with more great music, art and wonder book releases. Our lunch menu has expanded to included hickory smoked chicken salad, roast turkey sandwiches, a round "baseball sized" hamburger we call the Grand Slam Burger and a apple wood smoked pork loin sandwich. BBQ Ribs, roast chicken, beef brisket, and other great smoked items now complement our evening menus AfterHours. With our expanded capacity, we now cater parties up to 150 folks. If you are planing an event in the area, we would love to provide food, food service, and even coordinate the entertainment to make it a success. Call us for a quote. If you need space, consider using AfterWords after 7PM during the week for you own private venue. Won't be long till the fireplace outside is roaring! In August we launch another segment of our business, AfterWords AfterHours Radio. With the guidance of Doug Driesel we start taping our shows for radio. The idea is to highlight local musical talent and expose listeners to the sounds of the Spring River Area and AfterWords. Contact us for more details on how you may attend. We also joined facebook with hopes of getting better connected to our community of fans. I plan to post last minute event news and ideas we are considering for acts, meals etc. We'd love to have you as friends.
In September we expand our web site to provide news and information to those of our group interested in publishing there work or marketing their literature to others. Our goal with this update is to help connect writers, readers, and publishers.
Lastly, we are taking a vacation break August 6 throught August 9 (returning to normal hours August 10th). Beth's attending a family reunion and I am attending a seminar. You tell me who has the best deal.
I have listed just a few of the many things happening at Words and AfterWords below. Be sure to stay tuned in to our events link online for the latest updates. We hope you will tell your friends and neighbors about Words and AfterWords.

New Artwork
by Inga Eubanks
If you are interested in art depicting Hardy's Past or the "Backside" of historic Hardy we have the exhibit for you. Ms Inga Eubanks has graciously shared some of her work from her studio in Piggott, Arkansas. This exhibit has new and vintage images of Hardy as well as vivid color images of areas behind the scenes. Some interesting images are the shots of the Old Hardy Bridge with folks on the bridge and some in the air jumping off the bridge as well as scenes of outhouses in the area. All the artwork if on sale now in Words and AfterWords. Many pieces may be custom framed and/or sized to fit your decor. The work will hang through August. |
| Best Selling Paperback Books
We will start our book buy-back program this fall. Stay tuned for details. Hardcover works and some good quality paperbacks will only be considered. Payment will be through our gift card program usable at Words or AfterWords. |

The bands have been invited already, but we are looking for audience members. If you want to attend on one of these dates let us know. We will not tell anyone of the act being taped, so you get the luck of the draw. Some nights we will have two acts participating. Admission is $5 bucks and includes a soft drink and whats on the buffet. Should be a fun time! Come prepared to participate, but leave your watch behind.
