Words and AfterWords
Happenings at WORDS and AFTERWORDS  Hardy, AR April & May 2009
 Greetings!

Believe it or not, it has been 2 years since we opened the doors to AfterWords and began the Words and AfterWords experience.  My what a ride!  I remember putting together the business plan in late 2005 wondering how close we would be to the plan in a couple years.  Actually we are pretty close on content, money is another subject.  Books are still major with our plan, but who would have guessed how much music, art, and great eats would contribute.  As my late wife, JaNoel, would say "all tours include food". Its' definitely at the center of our experience and something you will be pleased to see expanded on going forward.

April 8-11 we celebrate our anniversary with a huge sale at Words, art show on Saturday the 11 and great music Friday and Saturday at AfterWords.   We have some new talent appearing in April with Jon Lumsden making his solo debut April 4th and a alt rock band from Salem "Always April" joining us April 10th.  Plus we have many of our friends Gary Rounds, Tim Crouch, Billy Joe French, Eddie Cooper, and Doug Driesel coming back to perform.  I am so thankful for all the support these talented artists have given AfterWords.

We crank up a comedy weekend on May 1st and 2nd that promises to be a major event.  We are flying in talent from LA , Ed Galvez and Doug Driesel Jr., and from Chicago Tia Ayers.  We hope to make comedy a standing show one night a week in the summer.  Local photographer, Larry Lawrence, has allowed us to show and sale his wonderful photography April 11th.

As always this is a snapshot of our plans, stay tuned to www.wordsafterwords.com for the ever changing schedule.

ART SHOWS
Hardy by Dark, Larry LawrenceArt Show  April 11th
Larry Lawrence
We are featuring the photography of our good friend Larry Lawrence.  Larry is a native of Arkansas, and attended grade school in Hardy.  He lived in Jonesboro, until he retired in 2000.  He now works as the program director for psychiatric services at Five Rivers Medical Center in Pocahontas.  He currently lives on the farm in Ash Flat.  Larry discovered Larry Lawrencephotograph in 2005 and has been taking photographs ever since.  His interest led him to take a basic course in digital photography at Black River Technical College in Pocahontas.  Since then, he has worked to encourage others who have an interest to take a class and take pictures.  He is a founding member of the Northeast Arkansas Digital Photography Club, which meets the last Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM at the Edge coffee house in Jonesboro.

When Larry is not working his day job, he is expanding our view of the world around us with his photos.  He not only has a great eye for "the shot" but excels in developing his work to feature its most unique aspects.  Larry's work is on display and for sale  through  April.   We are please to be hosting a reception and showing in his honor April 11, at 5PM.
Johnson's Car ArtCar Art  in May
We are going to shake things up a bit around the first of May and hang some bright Classic Car Artwork.  These originals are the work of Jerry Johnson our friend DJ from Salem.  Should lighten up the place and be just in time for crusin weather.  Their show is planned for the Weekend of June 6th.  Tell your Friends
