Juried Show 2011 -- Call for Juror

The 34th Annual Juried Show is currently seeking a juror, and we need your help. If you know someone (who knows someone, who...) that you think would be an ideal juror, please contact Mary Louise O'Connell or Rachel Volpone at your earliest convienence. We will make a list of your contacts and do the leg work of asking and setting up the particulars, so all we need are a few good names. An ideal juror would be someone in the NYC art community or environs, either at the museum level or at a high-end gallery.  Jurying the show usually takes about 4-6 hours and takes place  September 11-16th. An honorarium is awarded to the juror for his or her time.

Please contact Mary Louise at mloconnell@sbcglobal.net or Rachel at rgoa@sbcglobal.net with any information or questions you may have.

Spring Cleaning?

RGA is seeking sweaters for a Summer Camp Project.  Spring is here and I know a lot of people are closet cleaning and goodwill-ing.  PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE if you have any old wool, mohair, cashmere, etc sweaters (no man-made fibers please), donate them to the Ridgefield Guild of Artists.  We will be using them for one of our summer camp classes.  They need to be processed before the class, so we can take them anytime, beginning this week.

The sweaters do not have to be perfect:  moth holes, stains, rips--all are OK.  We will be felting and disassembling the sweaters to make new garments.

Thanks for your support.

SummerFest

Ridgefield's Main Street, Bailey Avenue and (possibly) Ballard Green will be turned into a street fair on Saturday, July 16, and the Chamber of Commerce members are in the planning stages right now. This is a great opportunity for Guild members to get exposure in our community.  We are looking for artists who would demonstrate, paint, sit in our tent, talk to people about the Guild and generallly enjoy the event together. There may be an opportunity to exhibit work, but this will be a rain or shine event.

Since this is short notice, please contact Mary Louise O'Connell ASAP at mloconnell@sbcglobal.net if you and/or someone you know is interested.

Ridgefield Arts Council's Arts Festival

Last Fall, the Ridgefield Arts Council hosted a great Arts Festival in Ballard Green. The Guild, along with many of our town's performing arts groups, participated in this new event, and it was really a lot of fun.  RAC is planning its 2011 Arts Festival on October 1 (rain date is scheduled). This year, the Guild would like to expand its efforts and exhibit and sell member art.  But, we can't do this without help from members in the planning stages.  Please contact Mary Louise O'Connell at mloconnell@sbcglobal.net if you would like to help with this event.
