119 Gallery- Where Art Meets Innnovation
Greetings!

Welcome to the inaugural edition of the monthly 119 Gallery newsletter! In this issue (and of course, every issue thereafter) you'll find all you need to know about our events and how to get involved. Whether it's our volunteer awareness night 'First Impression,'  or the free form jazz of The Josh Jefferson Trio, we've got something for everyone.

Hope to see you soon!

Sincerely,

'An Alternate Reality'
A visual and musical journey with Lola Danza And Friends

Lola DanzaOct 4, 8 p.m.- 10:30 p.m.

Singer and songwriter Lola Danza is coming to 119 Gallery this October to treat her audience to a voice the Boston Herald calls "stunning... with almost ethereal clarity."
Danza's jazz inspired vocals will be accompanied by Wes Brown on Bass, Dave Ross on guitar, Nat Mugarero on drums and Jeff Galindo on trombone. The gallery's own Walter Wright will be providing wall to wall projection visuals.

"We will have video imaging surround the audience," says Danza, "with the band surrounding the audience as well. The band will be part of the visual audience this way- The audience will feel as if they are in an alternate reality. It will be as if time has stopped and the outside world no longer exhists and they are consumed only by the present moment."
'Zine Art'
An exhibition of independent media
T-GinaOct 14- Nov 6,    Reception Nov 1, 3 p.m.

119 Gallery will exhibit 'zines from several corners of the country showcasing everything that this ultimate OUtlET form of free media has to offer. 'Zines, short for magazine, are independently created publications that forgo the glossy celebrity banter to focus on alternative thoughts and ideas. The tools used to create 'zines haven't changed much over the last decades- glue sticks, staples and photocopy machines are still the tools wielded by zine makers. They like it that way.

We'll have several zines on hand to peruse and purchase- covering everything from art to radical feminism
