October 2011

Greetings!

In Minneapolis we went from raking leaves in sandals to cool, crisp days in a blink of an eye. Yes, Halloween is just around the corner and it is now dark in the morning and shortly after dinner.

Here are some "tricks" to remember for your pet's safety. Please keep all candy out of reach of your pets. Remember chocolate (especially dark chocolate) and sugar free candies/gums (due to Xylitol) are some of the foods poisonous to pets. If you dog is shy or fearful, keep her in a quiet room so she isn't upset with the Trick or Treaters coming to your door. Be sure your dog are wearing his collar and tags in case he "escapes" when you open the door. Remember Halloween can be scary to dogs. Be sure to keep all cats and especially black cats inside for the next few weeks!

If you walk your dog, please wear clothes or accessories that reflect in light, so car drivers can see you. And it is time to dig out the flash light so you can see as you clean up after your dog. Be sure to get out and enjoy this wonderful walking weather. The dogs will tell you everything smells great!

In the spirit of Halloween, recently I've received some real "treats" from clients. I taught a short Tellington TTouch® class in community ed. We had lots of fun learning TTouch® on the stuffed toy dogs (the dogs stood very still). The next day a student sent me her success story. Another treat was working with a lost dog. And the best treat was totally unexpected. A neighbor came to the house in tears and everyone is thrilled with Harvey's story.

Thank you everyone for giving me wonderful "treats" as I work with your pets! Please let me know how I can help you make your pet's life better.

Have a safe Halloween!

Take care,

Elaine
