Fall Decorating Tips
Don't you get the urge to bake something during the fall season? It's cooling off outside and the warmth of the oven combined with the delicious aromas of home-baked treats gives a sense of coziness in your kitchen. Carry that theme to the other rooms of your home with these easy tips to add instant warmth to your home.
Create cozy areas
By grouping your furniture into cozy conversation areas, you'll inject a sense of intimacy. Or, if you have a fireplace, group furniture close to it, for added warmth. Grouping near windows to capture lots of sunlight during the days can add natural warmth too.
Layer your fabric treatments
Adding more fabric adds instant warmth. Layering fabrics takes it a step further. Add tablecloths to tables and use runners to add another layer. Add simple slipcovers to wooden chairs, even if they have upholstered seat cushions. Choose nice warm colors for your fabrics.
Add warm accents and accessories
Place blankets over your sofa and chairs. Warm cuddly throws and pillows add texture and color to a room, great for chilly movie nights at home! Pile large pillows on the floor for extra seating and comfort. Scatter candles throughout your home. Fill a plate or bowl with walnuts and cranberries and add a candle to create an inviting centerpiece.
Add warmth to your exterior
Create an inviting entrance for your home, after all, fall signals the start of holiday entertaining. Create an autumn inspired wreath for your front door. You can use a colorful array of colored leaves, or try something out of the ordinary with beautiful dried flowers. Accessorize with pumpkins, gourds, twigs, dried corn, wheat or potted plants. Let nature inspire you!
