Design Tip of the Month featuring...
Connie Huss Creative Holiday Tables
How can you celebrate a beautiful crisp Thanksgiving Day with fallen leaves, or Christmas Day with a fresh snowfall on trees silhouetted by the sun? It all begins with setting the dinner table. Engage in creating a beautiful table setting to be enjoyed with a bountiful meal of all your favorite foods. Creativity - it is my favorite word! If you already have a beautiful table, accentuate it. Dress it to the occasion but leave it uncovered. This can still present a formal atmosphere with a few candles, a centerpiece and accents. If you would like to dress the table completely, choose the color of table dressing, then add dishes and decorations. You can go all out, or do as little as you like. Depending on the time of year, dress your table accordingly. For instance, in the spring add flowering plants to the place setting. For Easter add a "nest" of colored eggs or baskets full of goodies. At Halloween add a touch of "scary" with fashion glasses and plates along with a spider web tablecloth. For Thanksgiving, collect a variety of colorful leaves which can be dried in books. Don't leave the ornaments just for the Christmas tree. Put them in a glass bowl along with some beads and lights. Candles also set a mood for any party. Choose the centerpiece and candles with your guests in mind, be it romantic, casual, or formal. Add your favorite heirloom along with something new. There is no limit on what you can do! Just save room for the food, and ENJOY!
