   Annette Ward

I have been
interested in art since I was young. I designed bulletin boards for my Junior High School, lettered certificates for teachers and was a class officer in charge of flyers and posters for my High School.

Soon after I was married, I began teaching calligraphy classes at the Community College and in my home. I then started my own business lettering for several companies and clients. I have illustrated and published children's activity books, tole painting books, clip-art books and clip art on CD.  I have also designed porcelain and resin figurines, pewter designs, rubber stamps, embroidery designs, home décor gift items and scrapbooking/paper craft designs throughout my career. Currently, I am designing with my partner and friend Fayette Terlouw.  We started our own digital business called The Ettes & Company and are excited to design for Memory Mixer.

Some of my hobbies include tennis, waterskiing, snow skiing, decorating, traveling and spending time with my family.

I live in Sandy, Utah with my husband Kelly. We have one daughter and four sons who keep me very busy and inspire me daily.  We also have two adorable grandsons.

Fayette Terlouw

I have been a "doodler" all of my life.  From volunteering for art projects in school, to painting the windows in my parents' home for the holidays...I've always dabbled in art.  My love of art became less of a hobby and more of a career when I fell in love with tole painting.  I began designing and publishing my original tole painting patterns in 1992.  Even though my first love was painting, my move into the scrapbooking world was a natural one.  My publisher invited several designers to produce a line of papers and stickers...that was in 1996.  Since then, I've been fortunate enough to design porcelain and resin figurines, pewter designs, counted cross-stitch patterns, stamps, and clipart cd's. It's been exciting, and very fulfilling to make a living doing something that I love so much.

Although I rarely design anything with a paint brush in my hand anymore, I still love the entire design process.  I love working with my partner, Annette Ward-it's great to consider the people you work with some of your closest friends.  After years of designing for other companies, Annette and I decided to go out "on our own" and start our own business, The Ettes & Company.  We are thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Memory Mixer!

You may be wondering how or why we call ourselves the "Ettes". Well, here's the story. Several years ago we worked with a great sales rep. He grew a bit weary of trying to keep our names straight, so he decided that he would simplify things for everyone and just call us the "Ettes". You know...AnnETTE and FayETTE...our names both end in "ETTE". It made sense to us...and well, it stuck. We've been designing under our adopted name ever since.

I live in a small town in Northern Utah with my husband Kees.  We have two daughters, one son, and six grandkids that are the loves of our lives.  We're also fortunate to have my Dad living with us.  We love the outdoors, traveling and just spending time with our family.
