2-1-1 Big Bend News

May 2012

Greetings!  ,
Randy Photo
Randy Nicklaus, President

First, I want to thank all of individuals and businesses that supported our April fundraiser which raised more than $35,000.  This represents a 23% increase from last year's benefit. Thanks to Brandt Information Services and Sunrise Rotary Club for being our  lead sponsors.

Second, we are very grateful to IBM Corporation for a recent equipment grant valued at $6,200 to update one of our old servers.  This donation is very important to us because most of our contracts do not allow us to purchase equipment!  Thanks IBM!

Finally, I want to thank our staff and volunteers for their various efforts to help our community and for allowing us to earn recognition as a Finalist in this year's Chamber Awards Nonprofit Organization of the Year.  We are very honored to receive this Finalist recognition!

Bond Community Health Center Opens New Mobile Unit

Bond Community Health Center is celebrating the opening of a fifth location. But, that location will vary.  That's because the new center is a mobile unit.  Bond Community Health Center's new mobile unit is ready to roll.  The unit is complete with two exam rooms and a wheelchair accessible ramp.  A nurse practitioner will be on board to provide primary care services and HIV/AIDS testing.  Also, a case manager will assist with social issues.  Cyndi Evans, A.R.N.P. with Bond Community Health Center says, "We are elated. I have a sincere love and concern and compassion for those who are under-served and uninsured and those with insurance. So, it helps us to do what we do and make us feel rewarded in what we do."  The mobile unit is paid for through a grant from the Florida Department of Health.  Call 2-1-1 for more information.
