2-1-1 Big Bend News January 2011
Dear  ,

Randy Nicklaus, President

Thanks for subscribing to our 2-1-1 Big Bend electronic newsletter.  Please send me your suggestions for future editions.

Each month we include a link to our monthly Helpline 2-1-1 Snapshot that lists the programs we refer to most often and the top requests of our callers. They are always available on our website.

In this issue we are excited to share information about several new partnerships we have been developing during the past year which are now coming to fruition.  These are projects with the Leon County Courthouse, Leon County Schools, Leon County Emergency Medical Services and City of Tallahassee Fire Department.  Other partnerships are also being initiated to help get the word out about 2-1-1 Big Bend services.  These initiatives will be announced in future issues of this newsletter.

Happy New Year!

Still Time to Sign Up

2-1-1 invites community leaders, business owners and citizens who want to make a lasting impact on the Tallahassee community by serving as a volunteer hotline counselor.  The agency will host its next volunteer training in January 2011.  Trainees learn basic counseling skills as well as specialized intervention techniques for certain types of calls such as suicide, substance abuse or domestic violence.

2-1-1 Partnerships

New Partnerships Spread the Word

We are grateful to Leon County Schools for posting 2-1-1 information through their Family Connection Corners in 16 area public schools.

Thanks to Leon County for setting up a user-friendly touch screen kiosk in the courthouse for citizens to search our extensive referral database or speak directly with a hotline counselor.  Also, thanks for making 2-1-1 cards available on county Emergency Medical Services vehicles.

The City of Tallahassee Fire Department will provide 2-1-1 cards on their units for sharing with citizens who need help.  We appreciate all the support!
