Dear  ,

Thank you for subscribing to our 2-1-1 Big Bend electronic newsletter.  Let me know if you have feedback or suggestions for future editions.

The past month was very busy with our annual fundraising event, children's week and suicide awareness day.  Hotline calls for assistance continued to be steady.  We are monitoring the oil leak in the Gulf and ready to offer our Helpline 2-1-1 services to provide information and referrals related to this disaster.

Please see our monthly Helpline 2-1-1 Snapshots that list the programs we refer to most often and the top requests of our callers. They are always available on our website.

Fun and Fundraising

2-1-1 Big Bend's annual Benefit, "A Night On The High Seas" held on April 17, 2010 was a big success. As you can see in the picture, we all had a lot of fun with the theme.

Thanks to our title sponsor, Brandt Information Services, and several other sponsors we raised more than $30,000 for the agency.

A list of our sponsors and donors are located on our website.  Please help up thank them by patronizing their businesses.  See our sponsors.

We graduated 26 new hotline volunteers in April.  More than 100 volunteers work at our agency each year.  During the past 10 months, volunteers, interns and work-study students contributed an average of 993 hours a month to help us provide hotline and other program services.

Each year we train nearly 75 new volunteer counselors to help us answer our hotlines.  Our summer class begins on June 1 and lasts 10 weeks.  If you are interested in learning new skills and helping others, this is a rewarding experience.  To find out more and to apply, please attend one of our upcoming orientation sessions:
