Come celebrate 25 years of
Rabbi Morris J. Allen & Beth Jacob Congregation creating community together!
On February 10th and 11th, 2012 (17-18 Sh'vat 5772), our congregation will honor Rabbi Allen, Dr. Phyllis Gorin, and our shul.
Delivering the d'var Torah during Shabbat services on Saturday, Feb. 11th, will be Rabbi B. Elka Abrahamson, President of the Wexner Foundation and former co-senior rabbi at Mount Zion Temple.
Then, motzei Shabbat, we'll celebrate with a dinner and special program to honor Rabbi Allen & Phyllis Gorin, and their outstanding leadership contributions to our community. Our special guest speaker will be Samuel Freedman, talking about "The Vital Center in Polarized Times." Mr. Freedman is the religion columnist for the New York Times. He is the author of six books, including Jew Versus Jew, which was awarded a National Jewish Book Award.

It is a wonderful thing to announce to the shul where it all began that Magen Tzedek is now officially open for business! Had it not been for this synagogue and the support of the community in its development, I doubt that we would be celebrating this milestone today as it relates to workers, earth and animals. In the coming weeks look for additional information regarding Magen Tzedek, and, if there are food entities which you believe should be made aware of this opportunity, please let them know that these standards are now available.
Rabbi Morris J. Allen

__________________________________________________________________________ Telling our Story
Wed., Feb. 15, 7:00- 8:30 pm
A workshop to help us tell our stories succinctly and convincingly. Research following the adoption of marriage amendments in 29 other states shows that discussing discrimination and rights alone has not led people to vote "no." However, real stories about real people have changed voters' minds.
