Shir Shacharit Shabbat!
 
Services for the entire shul will start in the Saide Chapel with its close, intimate setting, allowing the room to be filled with our prayerful voices. As we conclude both Pesuke D'zimra and Shacharit, we will make our way to the main sanctuary for Torah reading and the remainder of Shabbat davenning and learning. The Shaliach Tzibur will be Jonathan Erlich.

Rabbi AllenOn February 10th and 11th, 2012 (17-18 Sh'vat 5772), our congregation will honor Rabbi Allen, Dr. Phyllis Gorin, and our shul. After Kabbalat Shabbat services on Friday eve, February 10th, congregants will gather in each other's homes for Shabbat dinners. All member households will have the chance to welcome guests or to be guests. 

 

Delivering the d'var Torah during Shabbat services on Saturday, February 11th, will be Rabbi B. Elka Abrahamson, President of the Wexner Foundation and former co-senior rabbi at Mount Zion Temple.

Then, motzei Shabbat, come to a dinner and special program, 7:00 p.m., Saturday February 11th, to honor Rabbi Allen, Dr. Phyllis Gorin, and their outstanding leadership contributions to our community. Our special guest speaker will be Samuel Freedman, talking about "The Vital Center in Polarized Times." Mr. Freedman is the religion columnist for the New York Times. He is the author of six books, including Jew Versus Jew, which was awarded a National Jewish Book Award.

If you would like to attend the dinner please RSVP after Shabbat, preferably by clicking here. The sooner you reserve, the better your chance of attending the dinner. Given the limitations of the kitchen and the space in the synagogue we cannot serve more than 275 people at the dinner. Please understand if we run out of space and join us for the speaker portion of the evening at 8:30 pm, and for Shabbat morning services beginning at 9:00 am!
