Monday Night Limud Schedule Change

Talmud Class With Rabbi Allen will not be held on  on Monday, January 30th.  It will resume as usual the following week.

Rabbi_25_DinnerCome celebrate 25 years of
Rabbi Morris J. Allen and Beth Jacob Congregation
creating community together!

Rabbi AllenOn February 10th and 11th, 2012 (17-18 Sh'vat 5772), our congregation will honor Rabbi Allen, Dr. Phyllis Gorin, and our shul. After Kabbalat Shabbat services on Friday eve, February 10th, congregants will gather in each other's homes for Shabbat dinners. All member households will have the chance to welcome guests or to be guests.

Delivering the d'var Torah during Shabbat services on Saturday, February 11th, will be Rabbi B. Elka Abrahamson, President of the Wexner Foundation and former co-senior rabbi at Mount Zion Temple.

Samuel Freedman
Then, motzei Shabbat, come to a dinner and special program, 7:00 p.m., Saturday February 11th, to honor Rabbi Allen, Dr. Phyllis Gorin, and their outstanding leadership contributions to our community. Our special guest speaker will be Samuel Freedman, talking about "The Vital Center in Polarized Times." Mr. Freedman is the religion columnist for the New York Times. He is the author of six books, including Jew Versus Jew, which was awarded a National Jewish Book Award.

We are pleased, but not surprised, by the overwhelming response to the celebration honoring Rabbi Allen and Dr. Phyllis Gorin. Given the limitations of the kitchen and the space in the synagogue we cannot serve more than 275 people at the dinner. WE ARE GETTING CLOSE TO OUR CAPACITY. If you would like to attend the dinner please RSVP after Shabbat, preferably by clicking here. If you are too late to get a reservation for the dinner, congregants are warmly invited to attend the program following the dinner in the sanctuary at 8:30, as well as Shabbat morning services and the kiddush lunch that will follow. The sooner you reserve, the better your chance of attending the dinner. Please understand if we run out of space and join us for the other events.
____________________________________________________________________________

Dinner will be $18/person, max. $54/household.
Click here, or call the office, 651-452-2226, by February 6th.

To be listed in the program as a contributor we must receive your check or online rsvp by February 3rd. We also want your photos of Rabbi Allen and Phyllis Gorin for inclusion in the evening's slide show...submit by Feb. 1st to Frances Fischer.
