New Jewish Learning Opportunities
January brings a couple new options to the roster of Adult Jewish Learning; Kiddush and Kibbutz, during Kiddush on Shabbat, and Feminist Liturgy- Learning and Lab: Liturgical Words, Sounds, and Movements on three Mondays in January and February.
Rabbi Allen's Talmud Class continues on Monday nights, as do Parshat HaShavua on Tuesday and Bracha and Bagels on Wednesday. Rabbi Liberman's class about the Matriarchs takes on Leah and Rebecca as it moves from Mondays to Shabbat after Kiddush, and For the Jew in the Pew resumes it's regular schedule this week at 9:15 on Shabbat morning.

Jan 21st will be the next
Shir Shacharit Shabbat!
Services for the entire shul will start in the Saide Chapel with its close, intimate setting, allowing the room to be filled with our prayerful voices. As we conclude both Pesuke D'zimra and Shacharit, we will make our way to the main sanctuary for Torah reading and the remainder of Shabbat davenning and learning. The Shlichat Tzibur will be Sara Lynn Newberger.

Nativ is a challenging academic year program for 18-year-olds after high school that is dedicated to creating and inspiring the Conservative Jewish leaders of tomorrow. Nativ, which means "path" in Hebrew, provides a unique opportunity to explore new directions on the journey to becoming a Jewish adult.

 Dreidel Dash Chili Dinner
Team Beth Jacob continues it's streak of winning the "Biggest Team" award at the JCC's annual Dreidel Dash, and with it comes the prize: Beth Gendler's "Maccabean" Chili!
This year's Chili Dinner for Team Beth Jacob members (as well as our co-winners, Team TTSP) will be on Thursday Feb. 2 at 6:00 pm at Beth Jacob.

Come celebrate 25 years of
Rabbi Morris J. Allen and Beth Jacob Congregation creating community together!
On February 10th and 11th, 2012 (17-18 Sh'vat 5772), our congregation will honor Rabbi Allen, Dr. Phyllis Gorin, and our shul. After Kabbalat Shabbat services on Friday eve, February 10th, congregants will gather in each other's homes for Shabbat dinners. All member households will have the chance to welcome guests or to be guests.
Delivering the d'var Torah during Shabbat services on Saturday, February 11th, will be Rabbi B. Elka Abrahamson, President of the Wexner Foundation and former co-senior rabbi at Mount Zion Temple.
Then, after the conclusion of Shabbat, a dinner and special program, 7:00 p.m., Saturday February 11th, will honor Rabbi Allen, Dr. Phyllis Gorin, and their outstanding leadership contributions to our community. Our special guest speaker will be Samuel Freedman, talking about "The Vital Center in Polarized Times." Mr. Freedman is the religion columnist for the New York Times. He is the author of six books, including Jew Versus Jew, which was awarded a National Jewish Book Award.
