The tween and teen years are hard. Even at forty years old, I can recall the continual self-doubt, the mirror peeking, the obsession over performance, and the conflicting emotions of those transitional years.  It's hard all over again as the parent of a tween to see my daughter struggle through this stage.

Every child is different, but most middle schoolers would like to say these things to their parents.  Listen to what they have to say to you, mom and dad.

I'll be honest here. Middle School is my all time favorite age to teach. I've been teaching English classes for homeschoolers since I was fifteen, and despite brief valleys along the way, it's almost always been one of my favorite things to do. I enjoy
 the elementary age kids, with their quick enthusiasms and sometimes bizarre
imaginations. I find myself challenged by my high schoolers, if somewhat faint at times at the idea of teaching the ever fluid works cited page. But middle school?
