2010-2011 ACSI Geography Bee

Wednesday, February 9th, 2011

To all parents with children in Grade 3 - 8:

We have an another opportunity to participate in the 2010-2011 ACSI Geography Bee this year.  This is only the third year ACSI has provided this wonderful experience for students across the country.  Evangelical Christian School at Forest Hill (1920 Forest Hill Irene, Germantown) is the host for the Geography Bee.  The Bee will take place on Wednesday, February 9th, 2011, beginning at 12 noon.  The Bee could run as late as 4:30 pm for the upper grades (6-8).

If your child is interested in participating, please email Karen Berry (keberry1@Bellsouth.net), our coordinator for the event, by Friday, January 21, 2011.  We are needing a count as soon as possible.  We are able to send five students per grade level and when these slots are full we will start a wait list.  We could send a total of 30 children to represent our school at this exciting event.

The questions for the ACSI Geography Bee are similar to the questions asked in the National Geography Bee that MHEA sponsors each year.  The ACSI adds questions that cover Biblical geographic locations (past and present).  The ACSI also utilizes answer boxes and is multiple choice format.

Karen Berry has volunteered to be the coordinator for this event and can answer any questions you may have.  After you sign up she will get a CD for $10 with information to study and sample questions.  You can reach her at KeBerry1@Bellsouth.net or 753-3973.  She will attempt to schedule at least 2 practice sessions prior to the Bee.    This information will be sent to those participating.

The cost for participation will be $15.00 per student.  Checks can be made to Home Life Academy or you may use Paypal, by sending money to admin@homelifeacademy.com. Mark clearly in the notes what your payment is for. The deadline for payment is Friday, January 21st, 2011.  When signing up, please make all attempts to come to the Bee as the sponsoring school is making preparations based on the number of students who sign up.

We are very excited about our Geography Bee participation again this year because this subject is one of great importance to our students.
