A Message from Celente Tapp,
     A homeschool mom like you!
"Think of the Resurrection as you see new life spring up from dormant flowers, plants, and trees. They seem to be praising God for their renewed life. They have wintered the storms, rain, and snow. With the gentle touch of Spring they lift their heads to heaven and praise God who brought them through. Look at the tulips, how proudly they stand and stretch to Heaven. They bloom so beautifully for the season under fragile conditions and then return to earth to wait. Each year as they emerge they seem even more beautiful than the year before. This is what God wants for us, let Him clothe you as the lilies of the field in His righteousness. As you investigate what Spring has to offer strive to draw nearer to God and with each new year, emerge more beautiful than the year before."

PLANTS AND BUTTERFLIES...
Children love to go in search of the different wildflowers. Try to identify some of them or just simply enjoy them. Start a seed inside and watch it grow; plant it outdoors as the weather permits, in a small garden with flowers and vegetables. Children are amazed how easy it is to grow things and are excited to eat what they helped cultivate. Plan ahead and include flowers which attract butterflies.  Do a little research and you'll be amazed at the fun you will have.

Well-done Documentary BIRDS AND WORMS...
Begin
to point out the different birds that come with Spring. A field guide will help to identify them. There are dozens of sites but this site will also assist you in identifying your birds http://www.enature.com/birding/

Enchanted Learning is another great place to go. If you have resources available, hatching chickens from eggs with an incubator is great excitement. This teaches patience and appreciation of the miracle of birth. Earthworms and frogs seem to be a childhood favorite. An earthworm farm and frog nursery are a must have as well. All of these can be found at Insect Lore! There is always the option of harvesting your own worms and tadpoles. This is a big hit with most every child.

TREES...As trees begin to bloom, take a walk and identify them and their characteristics. A tree field guide will come in handy or this site might help you. As you walk through the trees notice the different flowers below and harvest some moss to plant at home. Transplant a tree together and be amazed as it grows from such a small thing into a gift to the earth. The important thing in this is to get out and enjoy nature, your family, and your God! Embrace the Spring Fever and refresh your mind.

CRAFTS AND STORIES...

FIELD TRIPS!
Finally, we can't forget the field trips!! Field trips can be lots of fun. Check locally for activities or  take a virtual field trip to Nashville. But We especially recommend the real thing! There are several to choose from. When Spring arrives a
trip to the zoo seems in order. Check with your local zoo and see what extra activities interest you. A visit to the butterfly exhibit is always a big hit. Many zoos offer classes with demonstrations involving different animals.

This gets you up close and personal. Look for the labels on the plants and trees. It is a nice way to identify them. Here are sites to zoos in Tennessee and Florida.

We hope you enjoy this Spring with your family. As you investigate Spring with your children, let them have
their own time to explore. Children are much more excited when
they find something on their own to share. The possibilities are
endless! Just roll up your sleeves, leave the books behind for the
day, and get out and enjoy God's beautiful creation. This is the
day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!
